Agent Lynch takes on the Crazy Horse

Once a high flying advertising executive, Agent Lynch now charms audiences with her phenomenal burlesque performances. It is her dream to dance at the Crazy Horse in Paris, the hottest cabaret show on earth! Will she make it? We’ll be there to find out, Oui! Je T'aime!

1) Why did you participate in this campaign?
My friend Vicky Maguire who I used to work with, forwarded me the website and said that she thought I would have a great trip up my sleeve.

2) Why did you pick your particular story?
Well I have been a burlesque dancer for over 3 years and I have heard so much about Crazy Horse. Their showgirls are the best in the world and to perform alongside them would be a dream! What Parisian showgirls do is very different to a British Burlesque so I think I could learn a lot from them and their production team, I would love to take a bit of Crazy Horse magic back to London. To be part of their stage show for a night would be the opportunity of a lifetime and if I got to perform my Je T’aime show –my homage to the French I can’t think of anywhere else more fitting!

3) What was the worst journey you ever did?
I had serious problems getting out of Marrakech last November where I had been working there with another dancer. Our flights were cancelled twice we had driven 6 hours to Casablanca to catch it! Then on my rescheduled third flight I was arrested for my prop gun that I use in my stage show that was in my hold luggage. The Police stopped me from boarding the flight and held my passport for three days! They let me fly home with an apology eventually after they confirmed I wasn’t a terrorist, but it was quite an ordeal. See: http://agentlynch.com/2009/12/03/how-i-got-arrested-in-moroccopart-2/

4) What is the most important thing that needs to come with you on a journey?
My costumes! 9/10 times I’m travelling for work so my bags are always jam packed with capes and spacesuits! Each costume is pretty elaborate so I have to triple check I have all my props and parts of my outfits. Saying that, I did turn up to a show without my spacesuit once, but my friends leapt to my aid and supplied me with back-up underwear. I have anxiety dreams about my baggage getting lost and I can’t perform. My ipod is another essential as I always like to have my own music to brighten up hotel rooms – Black Eyed Peas on loop on MTV Europe grates after a while!

5) If you could take any person to come with you on a road trip who would you take and why?
I would take my boyfriend Matt. Because I travel so much for work he hardly ever gets to come with me and I really miss him. Things are frankly so much more fun when he’s around, and it would be wonderful to stroll around Paris and get all romantic. Plus he’s the one with the driving licence, I don’t think I’d get very far behind the wheel before being distracted by something shiny and crashing.

6) If the online community were to participate in your story what elements could they influence (for example costume, location, etc)?
It would be great to hear recommendations about where we could stop off en route to Paris and people’s favourite hot spots in the City of Light!
They could also vote on which costume I should wear for the big night!
Also here are the details of the show I’m performing in Paris next Friday 9th at the VIP Theatre in Paris as part of the Gentry de Paris revue. So if they would like to come please let me know ASAP as I can then arrange guestlist for them! (I will be doing my signature Barbarella show then)

A mission

The Crazy Horse Paris is the holy grail of the showgirl. Founded in 1951 by Bernardin, Crazy Horse continues to put on the most inventive and stylish cabaret show under the amazing choreography of Philippe Decoufle. To see a Crazy Horse show is, quite simply, to see the best show in town. I have been a Burlesque dancer http://www.agentlynch.com for the past 3 years. I’m obsessed with the 1960s and my routines reference everything from Barbarella to Bond Girls. However the show I’m most proud of is my ‘Je T’aime’ show a mixture of live French New Wave cinema and Yves Klein and sound tracked by the iconic Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin track: ‘Je T’aime’. In fact, I first performed it to commemorate the anniversary of Serge’s death. This show is my love letter to the French. It would be my dream to perform my ‘Je T’aime’ show at the Crazy Horse Paris. I would love to learn things from the Crazy Horse girls things that I can take back to my own shows. To share a stage with the best showgirls in the world would truly be an honour, nervewracking and hopefully huge amounts of fun at the same time. I have made a super 8 film of my stage show as an homage to my favourite frogs. I hope you enjoy it. Oooooh Oui JE’TAIME CRAZY HORSE PARIS!

What a great idea to perform out on the street!!

How was performing at the Crazy Horse? Was it everything that you had hoped for? Well done to you for following your dream and don't let anyone tell you that you are not good enough. The Crazy Horse is just another place and there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to do your show there.

In response to putting myself up to comparison: I am bloody nervous! But part of the reason for doing this is I want to learn from than the Crazy Horse. I never trained as a classical dancer and fell into Burlesque by accident 3.5 years ago. This is amazing opportunity to get critiqued by the best in the biz and hopefully be a better performer at the end of it….fingers crossed. Agent Lynch

Hilarious... Crazy Horse dancers are professional dancers who know how to dance. They don't just strip awkwardly with no regard for rhythm, grace or elegance! Are you sure you want to put yourself up for comparison?

Just red and white paint to cover en-route!

Dan75 27 Apr 2010

Agent Lynch, i reckon you should do a street performance too...and leave a permanent impression of you, in blue, on a wall in Paris. Graffiti to be proud of.
